We hope you enjoy this visit to our website to see a snapshot of the vibrant life at Camberwell After School Project. CASP developed as a community project 23 years ago and has catered for thousands of children since its inception and is still proud to be a community project. The children who attend C.A.S.P. are those whose parents or guardians live, work or are studying full or part time in the Borough of Southwark and are in need of a childcare service. Priority is given to lone parents.
The children of CASP are friendly and well motivated to learn and our teachers and play workers are dedicated and skilled. We also enjoy excellent support from parents and this is a key factor in our many successes and the high standards achieved by the children. At CASP, we provide various activities covering fitness and health, safety and preventative coaching, personal development and citizenship activities to bring more long term values and benefit to the young people who attends the project. We seek to ensure that we give children the opportunity to experience learning through a wide range of educational visits and activities regardless of social background, race, gender or difference of ability.
CASP is unable to provide childcare free of charge therefore it is a fee paying service. While CASP has the highest aspirations for all the children in its care there is a limit to what can be charged to hard working parents who are often on low incomes. CASP’s fights an ongoing battle to minimize fees through fundraising and tight financial control to provide the best possible service.
CASP has been working carefully towards becoming an inclusive childcare provider and has been working with some children who have challenging behaviors and learning difficulties. This work requires high staff ratios and specialist training which we pride ourselves of.
